Check out the glowing waves under a setting moon at Huntington Beach, CA thanks to a red tide bloom.

RIP Chuck Allen

Really going to miss Chuck. Working beside him for 4 years at Mountain High and seeing him every time I went up for the 7 years after was awesome. He always had a cool story and wanted to send me home with something. I still have a case of Cholula from him in my kitchen. Click below to see just how much he has contributed to surfing and snowboarding.

Prandtl–Glauert singularity (WTF??)

Vapor Cone

Vapor cone also known as Prandtl–Glauert singularity

“The Prandtl–Glauert singularity, also referred to as a vapor cone, shock collar, or shock egg, is the point at which a sudden drop in air pressure occurs. Under the right atmospheric conditions, this causes a visible condensation cloud to appear about an aircraft traveling at transonic speeds.” -wikipedia

Now that you know what that technically is, we can go on. This was shot at the Miramar Air Show in 2008. I noticed a shot like this on a website which incorrectly described it as breaking the sound barrier. It reminded me of this shot I took so I dug it up and posted it. I’ve added a few more from that show below.

Little Corona Beach HDR

Shot this on Friday at Little Corona Beach in Corona Del Mar on Friday with my Canon S95 camera. This was only a 2 shot HDR. I love my S95 for when I don’t feel like lugging around my DSLR. This was my first time at this beach and it’s great. Really cool tide pools and rocks. I want to go back when there is a big swell.

I’m updating my site again!

It’s been a loooong time since I’ve updated my site.  So long in fact, that I still had a link to my old myspace page on here!  I’ve uploaded a bunch of new photos and put them on the portfolio page.  I’m not sure I like the format it’s in right now so I’ll probably tweak it later and divide the photos into categories.

Here are some photos I found from the past that I really like and never shared.  Enjoy and let me know what you think.
